“It’s technical, but it has such a human aspect as well”
Dr. Visharn Sathiyakumar
Radiation Oncology
Inspired by personal loss, Visharn was drawn to radiation oncology by the unique combination of cutting-edge technology and deep human connection.
Now in his third year of training at Waikato Hospital, he balances demanding study with emotionally intense work, guiding patients through some of the hardest moments of their lives, with heart, discipline and humility. “The first time you see someone cured and get to tell them — that makes it all worth it.”
